Ambati Rayudu announces retirement from IPL

Th IPL 2023 final against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad would mark his final game in the cash-rich league.

This 38-year-old cricketer from Hyderabad stated that there would be no U-turn this time.

“2 great teams mi nd csk, 204 matches, 14 seasons, 11 playoffs, 8 finals, 5 trophies. hopefully 6th tonight. It's been quite a journey. I have decided that tonight's final is going to be my last game in the Ipl. i truly hav enjoyed playing this great tournament. Thank u all. No u turn," Rayudu tweeted.”

This announcement brings an end to Rayudu's journey in the IPL. He leaves behind a admirable record and contributions to each franchise that he played.

Rayudu also played 55 ODIs for India, scored 1694 runs, with 3 centuries and 10 fifties. He maintained an excellent batting average of well over 47.

He played 203 IPL matches, scoring 4329 runs with 1 hundred and 22 fifties at a strike-rate of 127.

His standout season was in 2018, where he smashed 602 runs for CSK.

Even after the retirement, he’ll have the freedom to play for other franchise and veterans' T20 tournaments.
